Default Jumping/Confo critique

Looking for some critique on my showjumper Riley, a little bit of background: he's a registered Paint, 9 years old, registered as 15.2hh but now is at least 16hh.

One thing I've noticed is that he looks to have really long pasterns when he's cantering and galloping, not sure how that affects him though? I don't have a standing photo of him without his gear on but I'll grab one tomorrow and link it.

Be as brutal as you like, he's my baby but I can take it - I know he's not perfect lol!

He's adorable! His pasterns DO look long, but not horrendously so - I rode a jumper once who had waaay longer pasterns than that! Just keep an eye on his legs and you should be okay. His fetlocks behind look oddly large in that pic though - almost like osselets? Could just be the pic.
You guys look great in the SJ and XC - you seem like a very athletic rider! Just work a little on your lower-leg stability - your heel looks like it wants to come up a bit. Really get your weight down in it and you'll be that much better!
Also, your arm looks a bit braced - although not much - in the prof. dressage pic. Does he tend to want to lean?
OKAY I'M AN IDIOT.
I just noticed the whole, critique the HORSE thing...hahaha! I like how he's put together from what I can see; he may be SLIGHTLY croup-high but nothing jumps out at me.
I LOVE the 1st XC pic, his front end is very tight and he's really using himself! Gridwork, and lines of bounces will really help him to make that tightness instinctive.
:)

Dantex Eventer: No worries, I don't mind having myself critiqued, it's the only way you learn! I notice that when I concentrate too much on what I'm doing I tend to let my leg swing back, in the cross country photo I'm jabbing him with my spurs since it was a 1 stride double and I didn't want him to try put in a little stride before the jump! And in the dressage picture he was trying to power his way down the center line and I was just thinking *don't you DARE canter!* I think he was just like "uh mum, where are the jumps?"

I've never had anyone comment on his pasterns before, but it was something I noticed and it just didn't look right to me, but I'll ask our vet next time she's out.

Thanks guys Anything else? Also: Feel free to critique me! Tear us to shreds if you think we need it I'll try to get a standing confo picture this afternoon.

Just looks like he has longer than normal pasterns. Long pasterns lead to smoother horses because there is more "shock absorption". You may find that he needs supportive boots as he ages to protect the tendons/ligaments. Something like a SMB - since most boots don't offer support.

He looks lovely in all of the pictures :)
