Jumping Critique on Jynxy!

Holy moses, it's been awhile since I've jumped and you sure can tell! I'll post my videos first of us doing the gymnastic and then post the pics that are taking forever to load!

I have a hearty constitution, be as honest as you can! I realize my WORST habit is LOOKING DOWN. My over jumping gets blatantly worse when I'm staring at the sand! Working hard to try and get my weight lower in my heels and not let my lower leg swing around so much!

And photos! Srsly, I can't wait to lose some weight. It really does affect you negatively. :?

Trotting

Looking down! BAD!

Really looking down and no release. :-(

Slightly better but then my lower leg swung out and still not much of a release!

Need to stay out of the saddle more!

Srsly, I'm going to tie my pony tail to the back of my saddle!

You need to look up more from those pics.

i appreciate your pony's nice, polite, jumping effort. Keep hands quiet on the approach, and a nice even trot up to the ground line. Don't anticipate.
Also, it looks a wee bit like you have your ponys nose bent juuuust a bit to the outside. Keep his/her bent to the inside, and that inside eye where you can just see it. Once you have figured out that you tend to look down, you will be much more aware of it... so i think you'll have that ironed out before you know it.

Keep focusing on where you're going, not where you're hoping not to go (the floor)
Also you need to work on giving some release. It's not such a big deal over the little jumps, but you'll catch the horse in the mouth when they get bigger.
You have a good movement with the horse though :)

Nope, I was aiming for a crest release but for some stupid reason, I keep placing my hands almost on her withers. :? I need to concentrate on sitting lower in the saddle, legs more solid and actually stretching my upper body instead of scrunching up. I think it's in part due to my scoliosis that I scrunch up so bad!

You need to get your hands off her neck and put the forward a little over the fence. Granted they are nothing you still need to give her a release. Also you need to put all your weight in your heels and that will prevent your leg from going back. Remember to look up over the fence and to get the pace you want from the coroner. Your horse is very cute though :) Good job keep it up

I would practice holding your 2pt through a gymnastic and just giving with your hands while holding your position. also you can try with no hands. it may help you to pick something to look at on the other side of the jump so you remember to keep your eyes up. good luck!! :)
ps your horse is really cute, i love the black face and the white body :)

Thanks guys! I think I need to work harder on my two point on the flat, and I agree, just getting into two point a few strides out and not hindering her.

We'll work on no hands when she's a little more reliable through the gymnastic. Her head turned towards the outside is a counter bend thing she's developed, I try my best to keep her head straight to get the correct lead but she can be silly sometimes.
