I heard back from the school, their insurance will no longer allow them to approve horseback riding :( Oh well, everything happens for a reason.
I want to do some sort of gift certificate. Any ideas short of just ordering some gift certificates? Would personalized ones be worth the cost over a general gift certificate? I'm thinking, with Christmas coming up, this would be a great gift for people to get for their horse-crazy kids. And I want to add a free helmet if you buy a certain (undetermined as of yet) amount of lessons. That would give them something to open on Christmas morning.
Thinking back as a child, I used to daydream that I would wake up on Christmas morning to see a horse in the front yard. Ha! Lessons would have been the perfect gift for me as a child. Just thinking. :)

Why not make your own on your computer? My Microsoft Works has a template for several different gift certificates and certificates of achievement and appreciation. Would cost very little, just a nice quality stationary to print on and the time to fill it out.

Woo! Made a gift certificate. Matches my website and business card. I took a blank image of my business card, made it larger, and added my text. Woo! What do you guys think?
Should I add anything? I plan on putting one of my business cards in the envelope with it so they can call me to schedule their lesson.

I'm also going to get one of those changeable number stamps to stamp each one with a different number, and then I'll have a ledger to keep track of them. On the back I think I will stamp however many lessons they bought, and then when they bring it to me I will keep it with the student's file and write the date of each lesson and both myself and the student (or parent) will initial it to keep track of lessons taught.
I also thought people giving the gift certificate would rather have the number of lessons rather than how much they cost.

That looks really nice! You might make one for the ones you give out that give the reason you're giving the person the gift. For instance, one of your students does something really thoughtful that helps you out and saves you time, say, cleans the lesson tack, you give her a gift of 2 lessons. Or maybe you have competitions to win a gift certificate monthly, so say what the person did that won the certificate.

Made some new flyers to promote the Christmas Special. Wish me luck! Any critiques or advice greatly appreciated!

Sorry about the gigantic pic, could not figure out how to make it smaller!

So I have filled up all of my lesson spots and I have 2 kids on my waitlist!
People really loved the free helmet Christmas special.
I'm working on getting all of my materials together (reference letters, letter of intent, taxes etc.) to apply for a scholarship for the CHA Certification.
Things are going really well!

Here's an idea that could be fun :) as long as the horses have been desensitized appropriately for special occasions like Christmas and Easter or would be especially popular in the school holidays, you could do an 'own a pony day' they're quite common over here in England don't know about America where the kids get to come up in the morning brush and tack up their horses, with help obviously, and then what could be fun is take the kids to a local arena maybe do a quick lesson oorr work on a musical ride riding different figures and having to work in a team. Almost like a little dance routine on horseback xD then in the afternoon you could get like horse glitter gels (they do exist! Haha) and ribbons and stuff and the kids could decorate their ponies and then could do a little performance for their parents I know if I was a kid I would love that! Do you want me to see if I can find some musical ride videos to give you an idea of what I mean? :)
