horse: I think she's a buckskin grulla? I've heard many different opinions of what she is; grey, rose grey, blue roan, red roan, soooo who knows. Either way, I do love her color and I also hope she doesn't lose it!! She is 13 though, so here's hoping it'll stay.
I'm so glad to see the positive things said about her...she's my one dollar horse and boy did I get a deal! You hit the nail on the head with "complicated personality" though. She challenges me everyday, but she is kind as well, and does not try to hurt me....she just takes a lot of figuring out. I guess that's a good place to be...I do like a challenge, and love seeing the improvements when we do make them.
Anyway, I am terrible at confo but I do see what you're saying now that you've said it (if that makes any sense). The only thing I'm having a hard time seeing is the thickness in the hock, but I'll take your word for it. It's good to know there aren't too many glaring conformational faults. (I know her head is huge for her size, but it IS cute! Haha)
me: Thank you for the compliments...that boosts my confidence some! And don't feel bad about finding something wrong...that is what I was looking for! You're correct that in all but the first two photos I'm in a treeless saddle. I do pitch forward too much at times (though I think it has to do with my shoulders going forward as you said, not with the saddle) BUT YES, my shoulders...I remember being told that back when I had lessons....I had forgotten about them!
I just tried that shoulder thing in my chair at home and it hurt....so definitely something that's going to take some work! I LOVE that stretch, not only did it work, but it was easy to understand. As for the elbows: I think I'm going to start carrying something in my armpits...I've had that problem for years. I'm going to start using that shoulder thing though to reset my position....hopefully by spring when I post videos my shoulders and elbows will improve at least a little bit each! They feel related, when I roll my shoulders back it seems to help my elbows to be more correct...is this logical?
