Have at it. I know they aren't the best critiquing pictures-I don't need anything too deep anyway, its more for fun. I won't be using him for any extreme sports anyway! He is about 18 (rescue-not sure) and about 15h. Obviously, an appaloosa haha.
Hasn't been ridden in a year so he does need to muscle up his top line quite a bit.
Congradualations, he is a cute guy and I love his color. He definitely needs your help and groceries.
No those are not the best picture to do a critique, but from what I can see here:
He is cow-hocked and stand close behind. This is not necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you want to do. He looks like he has a weak coupling.
He has a nice wither for an appaloosa. He looks like he may be turning in on left front, but it is hard to say. This may be fixed with proper farrier care.
Can't really comment on much else due to the pictures.
Ok thanks! I really won't be doing anything too crazy with him. Pleasure riding...trail riding...I think he could be totally crooked and manage that haha. He does need muscle....bad....I will try to get some better pictures soon!
No critique from me- but i think he's cute and i love his coloring He does need weight and muscle, but seeing as he is older- make sure not to do too much too quickly with him.
Best thing you could do is start lunge in side reins or neck stretcher just at walk and some trot and then light hill work. I am not sure where you are, but if you have some gentle hills in a pasture or something then that would be good to start under saddle.
I would have guessed he was older than 18. As another poster said, he is weak couled. His hip and sacro illiac joint are not in good alignment. His SI joint is pretty far back behind the hip and one can see that his back has dropped a fair amount , with the pelvis having rolled forward a bit. Even in the posture of grazing, his back doesnt' come up muchj and his rear feet are out behind him. His whole pelvis doesn't looke connected to his body right.
shoulder is pretty upright, but no biggie. His legs look ok to me. It is just his pelvis and pelvis to back connection that looks very weak to me. He will need conditioning, slow conditioning, I think.
