Please Critique

It's a short video, so I hope that it is enough for a critique.

One of the main things we were working on is how when I try to keep the horse in the canter, I put my entire body into it.

But if you can find anything else, please let me know!

Not only do you use your hips to open/close and absorb the motion so that you upper body can stay still, you also need to do the same , to a lesser degree, with you neck, so that you head can stay still. The rider looks like she has locked up her body from belly button to the top of her head, so her head ends up bobbing. Doing this excercise with her hands on her tummy might make for a better feel .

Thanks, Tiny! I will give that a try next time. A lot of the focus is mostly trying to keep the horse in the canter. I tend to over do the moving with the horse bit. : p

I wonder if it would help to focus on some point in the distance?

I am just guessing, as, personally, I am a terrible bareback rider.

It might. My instructor was pleased though, as we made some progress. She suggested using more leg, and less body movement to keep her into gait. I was successful in that at least once. : p

I agree with what Tiny said, as I usually do!
Other than that, I'm not seeing much. At first I thought your hands began moving terribly too much, then I realized you were tackless and simply holding out your arms. I'm a dunce on occasion :p
Definitely relax your hips, move your lower half independently of your upper half, and get some impulsion! Just things you already know. Can you carry a crop?

: p Yeah, it took me a bit to get my arms out there. I kinda just wanted to keep them in front of me like I would ride normally, then I remembered that I needed to bring them outward. I look so floppy, haha!

The short moments that I do relax my hips, I notice that I don't... well, undulate as much. As for the crop, I don;t know. I never asked if I could use mine in a lesson, but I think my instructor would rather I try to get the horse into some propulsion without aids.
