Please critique possible lease

Hey everyone, I am going to look at this gelding this weekend and would like to know what you all think of him. He is a 17hh Belgian/TB and I would be using him for dressage and the occasional trail ride.

Here is his ad:

And here are additional pictures:

I have no useful critique, but thanks for finding me my new horse Liz!
So sweet of you!

Honestly I think he's lovely as I am partial to draft crosses. To me, he seems good for what you want to do.

I give myself very good advice, But I very seldom follow it

Haha anytime Gillian!!

I'm thinking the same thing. Obviously he isn't a high level contender, but neither am I right now!

Just bumping this back up.

I'm planning on seeing him in the next couple days, so opinions would be great!

As far as use for dressage goes, I generally advise against anything with too much draft blood. As the workload increases and you begin asking for collection you will break the horse down as they are not built for dressage, they are built to pull carts.
This one is not too heavy but I suspect his movement is quite grounded and from the pictures he looks downhill, out behind and his hocks show very little bending or carrying ability.

He looks cute but keeping him sound in the long run will be difficult. If I were looking at him to lease I would have a full workup done before signing any contract and if he passes that satisfactorily I would start him on Adequan and Legend to attempt to maintain his level of soundness.

Good luck!

They say money doesn't buy happiness -- well happiness doesn't buy horses!
