Quick Video Critique, possible buy

I went out of town this weekend to look at horses in Nasvhille, and I loved this mare. She's 15 years old, knocking on 15 hh, and an experienced barrel horse. She's only 900 obo, simply because she can only run 18's and she is getting older. I want a slow barrel horse, and an older horse to boot, until ready to "step up." Does this price sound about right for a horse like that?

Sorry the video is so short, it does not show much; but if you guys could make any comment on anything you see it would be amazing. Conformation, opinions on looks, my riding, ANY comments would be great!

My boyfriend says her head is too big and the "ugliest horse he's ever seen" but I don't care. Her registered name is Moon's Magic Dust, or just Moon.

P.S. -- That video should be viewable by anyone, facebook or no, just copy/paste into your browser.

AND!! Somewhere along this horse's life, someone has ruined her mouth and made her VERY tough-mouthed. She requires constant contact with a snaffle bit or she simply won't know you're tugging. It's the least attractive thing about her to me. She stops on a dime when you say "woah" but to slow her down it requires a lot of pulling.

She is gorgous, and does appear to have to require alot of pulling, but im sure with alot of work.. she probably wont need as much contact etc.

She is an appaloosa ?

I don't really see anything wrong, not much of an experianced critique, and I would have to watch the video a few times. BTW how do you do that with FB videos ? :)

Also She might need some work on backing up ? She looks like she tends to move sideways, and maybe give her more rein ?

She is a registered appaloosa. Her mouth is somewhat fixable, but it will require a lot of time. I wish I could have used a different bit on her, but I was forced to use her owner's tack because I only brought my own saddle.

She is a LOT better at backing up when I bump her mouth, a little tug on the left and a little tug on the right over and over again. She backs up pretty smooth that way. I discovered this after this video was taken.

Hehe, I didn't know I could do this with facebook videos, either. Click on "Embed" under the options for your video, and a code pops up. Copy the http://www... part of the code and paste it into your browser.

I think she is beautiful, too! Her head is somewhat large and she is very long, but she is pretty in her own way.

^ That is good, and thank you :P
What do you plan on using her for ?

I rode english for 10 years and in the last 5 months, switched to western. Barrels, poles, etc. I want a slow, older horse that has done barrels before so I can get comfortable with her. She runs mid 18's in barrels, which is slow enough for me, but fast enough to compete some saddle clubs in the area. When I'm more comfortable and experienced with barrels, I'll step up to a 16-17 second horse and go from there.

.... no one else?

I think that for what you want she looks like a great horse. If you've just getting into barrels, you should find a horse that doesn't intimidate you. The only thing I have to say is that appaloosas don't have great feet, but if you've checked that out, I would say she's a cutie pie!
