Those plaits look a bit loose? But other than that good job! Im a stickler for plaits being small and tight in, my bug bear! Hehe

    Good job!

Looks good except for the braids. They need to be MUCH smaller - at least 30 going down the neck, on some horses you can get close to 50. They need to be really, really tight. Everything else looks good.

30?! The rule here is 9 or 11 ;) its also kinda hard with a bit missing to disguise it :(

I think she looks fabulous I gave her a 10. I have a question, how do you get the tail so straight across, do you cut it with scissors or what? I see that often on horses at shows and always wondered if it was cut or pulled or what. Sorry if that's a dumb question I have never shown.

Tails are banged level with scissors.

Over all an 8, and that is only because of the plaits as you would know. I would say that the fashion for the number of plait is the same here (Oz) as it is over in the UK, we prefer around the 9-13 mark.

The individual plaits themselves, I would roll under a bit more so that the resemble more of a rose/ball more than a long plait. That's really my only critique but if you wanted to go all out, I'd bang her tail a little shorter and add a falsy to give it that bit extra thickness. I usually cut it the same level as the chestnuts depending on their tail carriage.

    She's lovely and clean!!

Thanks Vida yes, we just cut it with scissors :)

Frog - thank you for your comment :) We haven't cut her tail for a while I must admit, but when we do I put my arm under her dock and it is cut about 2 inches lower than her chestnuts :P tbh I couldn't be bothered with a falsie, they are too expensive and it would be hard to get a perfect match :( her tail isn't quite as thin as it looks, when she is moving it looks more poofy

I would rate her a 7. SHe is lovely and clean. Your bridle is nice and conservative, maybe a narrower noseband would suit her more?? The browband is a lovely match for her and not to loud.

The size of her plaits is good but they could be tucked under more. Its a shame about the section that has been rubbed, it throws off the overall apperance. She looks as though she has a very long neck so maybe a slightly longer bridle path will help that.

A small amount of eye makeup would draw attention to her face, because she has such a pretty one.

He tail is a nice thickness naturally so you don't need to go to the trouble of a falsie, but a thin to meduim thickness would still look good on her.

    Hi moomoo,

I believe that the rule is only 9 or 11 plaits when hunting or in a hunt class. All showing and riding club horse classes prefer a horse to have the right amount of plaits to suit the horses confo and what looks neat. Flo had 18 in during her ODE which looked much better than when I did only 11!
