Ok so this was one of my first shows on someone's mare. She was an AWESOME horse. First time I rode her. Don't butcher me completely guys. I'd appreciate that. Keep it clean. But I do want your full opinions. (In nice ways!)
Oh and I know the t-shirt and cowboy hat don't go together. I didn't have a ball cap for my hair so I was forced to look really stupid! Lol. It wasn't a show anyways. Just a clinic! The other 2 pictures where in a buckle cutting. The one with the cowboy hat was just in a clinic.
So I will critique myself first I guess. In the loping picture, I know I am leaning in. I don't normally do that! My hand should be lower too. In the second picture I should sit a little more up front in the saddle. To sit deeper. In the third one, I am reining. (bad me!) Its ok I guess though because that was my first time cutting ever.
I'd love to critique, but I don't know squat about western riding. The only thing I see is that you're not sitting square in the first two pics. With a horse changing direction that frequently, I'd slide right off the side if I wasn't dead square. That 3rd pic looks great to me, but then again, I don't have a clue.
You look like you have a very good, deep seat and you seem very balanced as well. :)
In all of the pictures your shoulders/arms seem very tense and upright, though. Maybe try to do relaxing exercises with your upper body? And, to me anyway, your sturrips seem to be a little short. Maybe taking them down a notch will improve your upper body? But I ride western pleasure so it may be a bit different for what you need with your sturrips (but not too much). Hope this helped!
