Saddle Fit

Obese pony aside, what do you think of this saddle fit? Its only temporary untill I have enough money to get a fitter out and purchase a new one.

I know its not perfect, but its all I have at the moment - Candy doesn't seem to mind. I see a few things wrong, including the height of the pommel and the balance point of the saddle. It gives plenty of room for wither and spine clearance, however perhaps its too narrow? Also the forward cut of the saddle flaps illude to little shoulder room... Okay, maybe its not so good! The only other saddle I have sits on her withers, so guess I'm riding bareback mostly untill I can get one fittet for her.

Anyway, any thoughts would be apreciated.

You need to girth it up and sit in it, then have someone take photo's. I am attaching a GREAT link I read about saddle fit and found it to be VERY informative.

Looks too far forward. Make sure to place it 2 fingers behind the shoulder blade.

You just have to see your don't have to like it.

That saddle is WAY too narrow at the whither for your horse. Can you see how the points of the tree (that would be a few inches down from the metal stud you see right near the top of the pommel, understand?), are ON TOP of the hors's shoulder. They should be down , just behind the shoulder.
Do not use this saddle. Sorry, you are right
The one that "sits on the whithers" if it's due to being too wide, you might be able to pad it out, but only if it's too wiide all over.
She is fat, but really, really cute.
Have you thought about a treeless saddle?

eep! Thanks for the replies, sigh - she is fat, I don't feed her at all, its all this new grass! I would love a treeless saddle however I can only afford to buy one saddle so my best option would be an all purpose as we do a little bit of everything... I would also love a western saddle :) Ohhh dear,
