Show Hunter suitability?

Handsome Gelding - Potential Eventer for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand

I'm wanting to give show hunter a try, and this guy caught my eye. Yes, I know it's not exactly ideal to start in a new competition with a horse that also hasn't competed, but I don't exactly have tens of thousands to fork out on a seasoned Hunter.

- Basically, I want to know if I'm looking in the right direction for a potential Show Hunter. I may be going to see try guy next weekend, but I'm not entirely sure as my boss is hinting at "staff cutbacks". >__>

Well i'm not to good at this but I think he has excellent potential. And he's gorgeous!! And quite cheap! I say go test him and if they test goes well, go get a vet check and test again and decide if you want to get him. I think he's very nice

Strikes me as more of an eventer than a show hunter; but then I'm not sure what show hunters in your country are like.

He's gorgeous! I might steal him... haha I'd go look at him. What's the worst that happens? You don't like him. It is worth a shot!

This horse, Pintado Navajo Joe, is almost 100% TB (part ASH, so practically TB anyway), and he was 6th in the Junior Show Hunter OTY class at HOY. But I'm not looking to win every class in sight, I just want to give the Amateur classes a go.

Agree with Maura, looks more like an eventer than a hunter. But maybe that's because I am an addicted eventer who finds hunters very boring! Haha. Why not try eventing?? Or do you already event? I used to do hunters.. did one event and I'll never do hunters again. I'm sure he could easily be made into a hunter though.
