Western Pleasure Critique Please (Video)

I would love a critique on my horse and I. We haven't worked on pleasure lately but I would love some input.

Also, just keep in mind that right before this video we had been galloping through a field so loping slowly wasn't her mindset. Thank you in advance.

Her jog is inconsistent and at some parts she wasn't doing a 2-beat jog but rather a 4ish-beat tralk, which can get you marked down in the ring. When your loping give her a looser rein and try to make her use her hind end more to get her head lower and more broken at the poll.

As for you I would say keep your shoulders back, head up, make her arm thats down more relaxed and keep your legs a little back. Its kinda hard to see in that video.

Do you possibly have another camera? One that can zoom in so we can see whats going on more?

Your horses jog is inconsistent, like AQHAgirl said.Your slouching forward a tiny bit,sit up and keep your inside shoulder back.I would work on the headset at the the lope, the trot has an ok headset.

Overall your appearance is ok

OK....first off, bring your lower leg back from your hip, and wrap your calf on her...relaxed through your thigh and knee. Your jog was much better than your lope, but for both gaits...you need to slow your thinking down. You can see in your upper body that you want to "do something"....just sit quiet.

The lope...(only watched the first direction), you did not set her up to lope off correctly...you did what we in WP call "the poke and hope"....poke with your spur/heel and hope the horse lopes off on the correct lead. She threw her head up, hollowed her back and threw herself into it...and you ended up "chasing" her movement with your upper body (tense, rigid and pumping)....so she got fast and quick legged. ALL of that can be fixed if your SLOW yourself down...set HER up to do it correctly. Are you working with a trainer? She's cute as a button and has potential.
