Blu did so much better than I expected!!! He needs some polishing on his stopping, backing up, and pivoting but other than that he's doing great.
I started on the ground with lunging and he's understanding the direction changes much better. He actually loped..a nice lope..in a circle. It had rained so it was pretty slippery so I didn't push my luck when I rode.
I did ride bareback and with a halter. I WAS AMAZED! Blu's neck-reining has improved and it was easier than plow reining. I wanted to test how he reacted to my seat. Boo did fantastic. It makes me wanna cry!
The reason I didn't ride today was that I was having back spasms after I rode. Went to the chiropractor and turns out my pelvis was off-set (again) and I might have pinched my Sciatica(nerve in lower back). I won't be riding for a few days but I'm anxious to get back out there and work some more.
Overall, I'm impressed. Blu's pivoting was very good. I just need to get him to understand which type of pivot I'm asking for(fronthand or rearhand.) He sidepasses well and he was pretty supple with the halter. I'm going to continue riding in the halter and bareback. I'm also teaching him to flex when I grab his ear. It's a Clinton Anderson method and I really like it.
Thanks for reading my horribly long post.
I honestly think if we keep working and we keep improving..Boo is going to be my show partner!!!
