1st lessons in six years!

For my birthday my mom got me some riding lessons, to get ready for show season. These will be my first lessons in six years! I will board my horse at a my new trainers place for a week and get 3 to 4 lessons. I am super excited and nervous. I am sure Hershey and I have some bad habits to work out.

What are some ways I can get the most out of these lessons? I plan to take notes after each ride so I can look back on them later. I might be able to convince my husband to come with me for a lesson or two and take pictures or video. Also, should I wear my tall boots? Or would my paddock boots be okay. When I took lessons before it was at a pretty casual stable, but this stable seems a little more serious.

Another concern,

I normally only jump him two times a week, but I would like to get as much jumping done this week as possible to prepare for the show season. Will it stress his body out to much to jump four sessions that week? I could have one lesson on the flat if I needed to. He will get a three day rest after that week because I will be out of town for the weekend after.

That's wonderful that your mom got you riding lessons! I think it's always good to have someone else helping you figure out what you can be doing better. I bet it'll be a great experience! Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the boots or the jumping. Good luck!
