Anyone ride with a side saddle?

I am just curious if anyone here rides with a side saddle. I don't think it looks comfortable, but I wouldn't mind trying.

Is it hard? Is it difficult? Where do people ride with side saddles? Anyone enjoy it? I mostly see people in Royalty using it, or do they no longer ride that way?

I am just curious about it.

I think it's mostly just a traditional type thing now.

I haven't ridden in one myself, but I find it interesting! I've heard that once you're in them, you don't come out! (like you're "locked" in almost) - I'd be interested in hearing about it from people who have actually ridden in one.

My cousins and I ride side ways for fun... but I havn't ridden in a side saddle, maybe i'd try it... once. I've seen ladies jumping side saddle!

I went to a horse expo in November and they had a side saddle demo. The lady giving the demo was injured so she had a helper riding and it was her very first time riding side saddle. It was very interesting, she almost fell a few times while trotting and steering with leg was interesting also, I don't remember how she had to steer but it looked hard lol

I ride aside. Surprisingly, it is far easier than it looks. I had two sidesaddles, but I just sold one of them.

We have a Side Saddle Association here in Australia and they compete around the country - it is not for everyone and it takes skill to balance in the saddle. It does look very elegant and they are always a show stopper when its thier turn in the ring. Though I have not tried side saddle as of yet - it is on my list of activities that I would like to do with my boy.
