Anyonehave an idea how long until i can ride again?

So how are yoou all?
I have a question. I had to have an operation a month ago on my back and I was wondering if anyone knows when I would be able to get back on a horse? I want to get on as soon as possible and will be buyin a protector vest to wear for a while when I start riding(just to be on the safe side). So anyone had any injuries and wasnt able to ride so long? Or have an idea or how long I could be out for?
:) cheers everyone

It is possible that someone else has gone through a back operation, but you didnt even say what you had operated. You could have had a mole removed or had two of your spinal discs fused together.

Even if someone else had gone through this, there is no way that you could base when you return to riding off of when they did. Your muscles may not heal as fast as someone else. Someone else may have had more swelling, and more limited movement for longer.

You are better off in the long run following what your doctor tells you, then asking some random person when they returned to riding.

Yeh I know all that, i'm just wondering how long other people werent able to ride, I didnt mean to make it sound as though I was going to follow what happened to them. I'm just asking everyone bout their injuries and any time they havent been able to ride.

I've injured my back twice. The first time I crushed 2 discs in my lower spine. It took nearly 8 weeks before I could even think aout riding and even now (4 years later) I struggle to ride for over half an hour without some form of lower back pain.

The second time I cracked my cocyx - THE most painful injury ever. Took me 3 months to be able to sit on a padded chair without a funny cushion with a cut away section!

I agree with Velvet. It is completely dependent on your own body and how you are healing. Nobody heals the same way or as fast as someone else. Ask your doctor. It's really hard to gauge your readiness to ride after a surgery based on how fast it took someone else to recover and ride again. It also depends on what you had surgery on.

I would say, to be on the safe side, a minimum of two months after back surgery.
