    ASPCA horse show

I think more barns should just do this. All proceeds went to the SPCA, the barn actually lost money. There were just a few jumping classes, english equitation, western equitation, and a whole bunch of fun classes. Each class was either $10 or $15 and all spectators had to bring a donation (a dog toy, cat toy, kitty litter, food, etc). It was super relaxed and super fun.

Jesse and I did the Intermediate English Equitation and the Beginner Jumpers. I haven't jumped in either 3 or 4 years so it was quite interesting. We ended up placing 2nd in the equitation because we picked up the wrong lead going left in the canter and first in the jumper class. I will have to see if there are any pictures that aren't a blur! Lol. I'm so proud of Jesse, he was so good!

Well done on placing so well!

And I agree with you, barns should hold events like this to raise money for the SPCA. A barn close to ours holds training shows every year, and all the money raised from entry fees are given to causes like the SPCA, and this year it was for CANSA. Its really nice to see that some places try hard to improve the lives of others...

I think that it's a great idea, and I do wish that more places gave back to the community that way.

And it was great for the horses to get used to a busy environment where a whole bunch of things are going on at once; dogs, people, vehicles. It was great!

I may mention that to our IRHA group. It may be a good way to do a charity event.

Apparently, it was two 16 year old girls who suggested it to the barn manager.
