Back problems and riding

I am almost 25 yo. When I was 15 yo I got caught up under a horse and damaged L4 Vertebrea which affects my sciatic nerve alot. I havent rode alot in two years due to have two kids back to back but Im having ALOT of problems out of it. When I was riding daily it very rarely ever bothered me and I had no complications at all. Does any one else have these back problems and riding helps them? My OB/GYN hates my riding while pregnant but that didnt stop me. I stayed in the saddle till I was literaly ready to pop but I didnt ride as hard or as long just rides around the barn. Now with the weather being pretty much rain everyday and our property is steep and muddy riding is out of the question and Im having more problems. Does anybody have any tips while not riding to keep the pain down to a minimum? Drs arent helping they say stay off the horses but the horses is what eases my pain.
