Back riding Saro

We came home from riding with some friends today. Fras and Vida in the horse trailer, we pulled in the drive and out of the corner of my eye I saw Saro turn on her hindquarters do a perfect pivot and run along side the trailer up the driveway. I decided there and then it was time to get back on her. She still, every once in a great while will get a catch in her stifle but it has been some time since I've seen it. She's been on joint and ligament supplements all fall and winter.
Well anyway, I grabbed a halter and lead and went to get her. She stood and let me saddle her up like she hadn't had 8 months off. She needs her teeth done so I put her in a Dr. Cooks bitless. She ground tied like a trooper. Stood while I went and got my mounting block. Never moved a foot while I climbed up on the block and mounted. I gave a tsk tsk and she walked out again like it was just yesterday that she was under saddle. We made a few turns around the round pen until I was sure she was remembering last year. We did some laps around the pasture then out the gate and down the road. She only whinnied once to her buddies but that was after they called first. I worked her for about 20 min. In a newly disked deep dirt field then we headed back home.
I was so proud of her for remembering her training from last year. She is such a confident and trusting girl.
We are heading to the trainers with Hubby and Shiloh after the 1st of May. I'm taking Saro just to keep Shiloh company and to give her some away from home experience. Basically just boarding her while Shiloh is getting finished for the Hubby.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed that she continues on with good solid legs. I'm really looking forward to putting some miles on her.
There is the Saro update. I'll keep posting here on her progress. So far so great!

You got to love that! Hopefully she continues to be good with her stifle *touch wood*.

What a good girl Saro is! Sounds like you put a good basic foundation on her and she is ready to build on it. Don't you just want to burst with joy and pride! Go ahead , you earned it! :)

When the weather cooperates on my next day off, that's what I'll be doing with Walka, training refresher. Don't expect any issues, but I will be ready just in case! ;)

Keep us updated, and my fingers and toes are crossed that the suppliments are working and her issue is held at bay!

I put the bit in her mouth yesterday. Just rode with a bitless but let her hold the bit. She did a lot of head shaking and chomping. She's going in to get her teeth done next week. She never had a problem with the bit last year, so I'm thinking its her teeth.
She has today off, training was called due to rain/wind
