This mare doesn't have much of a canter. It's more like a gallop and if you try to get it under control there's a VERY fine line between canter and fast trot

I used to ride my first horse Duchess bareback all the time. My second and third horses were both too skittish/ornery/untrustworthy for me to feel comfortable trying, but I have high hopes for my new girl - when I went to go look at her the first time as a prospective buyer, they didn't have a saddle for me to use for a "test ride". Since I didn't want to commit without at least a partial ride, I asked if I could get on bareback. The owner looked EXTREMELY uncomfortable but after I reassured her (with witnesses) I wouldn't sue if I got hurt, she let me try. I was expecting the horse to explode after a reaction like that but she stood just fine and responded very well. I don't have her home yet, so fingers crossed!
