Bareback Fall

Hey,

Well I've got good news and bad news. The good news,
I was riding Chinga bareback today just playing with the usual walk and trot and I decided I was ready for a bareback canter. So I asked for the canter and we got it. We cantered a few times and on the last go he was cantering (Bad news) and I slipped off him side ways and fell. Jalah said that his foot was millimeters away from my head. I remember seing his foot go straight past my head. He stopped when I hit the ground though.

Maddie.

Hahaha, welcome to the club. I am glad his foot missed you though *whew*.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

Well it's a good thing that his foot missed your head! And that your okay! Of course I think if your not falling sometimes then you aren't a good rider (just my opinion). Once I fell (not bareback) and fractured my spine in my lower back but I didn't go to the doctor until 3 months later because I was afraid he would tell me I would have to stop riding for awhile (which he did ). The worst part of that fall was that it ripped my pants!! It was so embrassing!

Happens to the best - glad that it was a minor incident.

Thanks guys, I had a really sore head at school today (partly because I ran into the door AGAIN) but it feels better this afternoon. I rode this afternoon, with a saddle! I swear that horse is a mare.

I took him bareback riding for a cool down, seems I've lost my nerve to canter bareback.

I've had my fair share of bareback falls. Like I was riding my friend's mare, and she is rather attached to her paddock buddy, this warmblood gelding, and she went off when she saw him. I was on the lunge, hands on my head, practicing trotting and next thing you know she was pig-rooting and bucking. My sister got the whole thing on video, its quite funny actually, because I sit out about 3 pig-roots and a buck then come off. I do the whole proper "roll into a ball" procedure. I'll have to put it on Youtube and post it on here.

I love watching videos of yourself riding because I'm always like "Oh gosh, what am I doing with my hands?" "Why aren't my heels down?" "Eww I hate that jacket, I'm getting a new one."
