Barrel Racing

I've always felt more secure in a western saddle than English, so I've been thinking about doing barrel racing.

What are you guys' opinions about barrel racing? I've never seen barrel racing as a fun sport, but it's something I want to try if I have the chance. How does it feel? Is it better, worse, or just as fun as jumping?

Thanks!

It is super fun. Hard work, but fun. You need a horse that knows they they are doing however. I have seen people run the horses to the ground. Its super hard on them. You have to go as fast as you can. You need good balance as your horse is doing all the work and has to slid under himself to get around the barrel fast. I myself love reining. I do western pleasure with my own horse and driving.

For the best help, post in the western riding section "barrel racing";)

I love it. With proper conditioned horses it's not any harder on them than any other high energy sport.
