There is no best breed.

Each breed is bred and used for a specific purpose.

Therefore, different activities may have some breeds which are best, or better, for it, and breeds that are less suitable for it.
Tianimalz and Speed Racer like this.

What Saskia said.

Best breed for AQHA western pleasure is a WP bred registered AQH. Best breed for SJ (statistically) is KWPN, which is the registry for Dutch Warmbloods, but even so some bloodlines are better than others. I like Warmblood/TB crosses for eventing, and Hanoverians for dressage.

Horses for courses. A WP bred QH is likely to be useless for barrels or gaming, which statistically are dominated by QH's... but usually running-bred with some cow, rather than WP.

There's not even such a thing as best breed for harness, because the Standardbred is bred for speed in harness, whereas the Clydesdale (and other drafts) was bred for sheer pulling power. Arabians are exceptional endurance horses, Thoroughbreds are the fastest over middle distance, and QH are fastest over the quarter-mile.

Each breed is bred for a different purpose, and certain breeds have different bloodlines for different disciplines.

Welcome to the forum.

This question could have us debating for ever.
The best breed of horse is personal preference and I think whichever horse suits your personality, experience and riding needs is the perfect breed of horse for you.

What the others said. No such thing as a 'best breed'.

This is impossible to answer!

What's the "best" breed for one person will not be the "best" for another. People have different needs and wants.

QH is the best breed. TWH is the best breed too. And WB is the best breed. And not to forget about paints, arabs, pasos, etc. etc. etc.

But seriously it depends on what discipline you are targeting at. If you are serious about something you want to look into the breed that is best in it (although of course, one size doesn't fit all).

The best breed for you? Depends on what you want to do. Do you just want to trail ride? Dressage? Hunter/Jumper?Cross Country/Endurance?
