Since coming to this message board I have realised just how lucky I am to have miles of beach, Pine forest, Sandy trails, SAFE QUIET roads & farmland all with in at most a 15minute drive from home. I have always wanted to have a large arena or similar type of area at home to ride on but boy, why would I need that when I have the wide open spaces? I can do everything in the open that I could do on an arena. There are Arena's I could hire around here but I guess I would get bored riding in an arena after being so spoilt. Just reading through some of the threads on here I realise how truely blessed I am to have been able to introduce all this to my horses on a daily basis. I have never worried about my horses not crossing water or fallen trees on a trail, it has really opened my eyes reading the messages on this site to realise that what I do everyday, some people would really freak out at. Personally I can't think of anything better than heading out to my favourite spot called "Sandy Point" and mosseying through the pine trees then having a lazy gallop on the beach on the way back & taking a quick dip in the lake before we get pop over a few logs and wander along the roadside back to the Horsefloat parking area.
Yes, You can all come live with me! LOL I just suddenly realised the other day that I take it all for granted, I just hook the trailer up & head off for an afternoon of 'Therapy' as I call it! LOL Its really made me greatfull of my situation after having read a lot about other peoples situations. We don't have big boarding barns here in NZ either. We have rent a paddock but the land owners generally don't have anything to do with you or your horses so there again even when I rented land I was still alot luckier than most.
