Cool BUCKED! But stayed on! YAY!

I thought I had already made this thread, but I couldnt find it, so I'm doing it tonight. My five year old mare decided she DIDNT want to leave our trail buddies and head home alone. She BUCKED me!

She has only bucked twice. First time was the first time the saddle was cinched, and she bucked it loose, jumped a 4ft fence, and ended up wit it on her belly. Second was about a week later, and I think it was bc of the saddle. And I I only stayed on for three bucks and I went flying! I was a novice then! And I think me riding improved as the summer went on.

    This is two years later:
THIS TIME, she was mad at me for making her leave the other horses! We were on the pavement too! YIKES! Helmet on though! But I went to cross the road so I was riding against traffic, and she started bucking! I held on for 5 bucks! I have no idea how hard they were, but I have bruises on my thigh and pelvic bone. I immediately thought I was falling off! But I stayed on in the center, and she spun and bucked again I stayed! I yanked her head up and finally, and smacked her neck and told her no! I think I yelled at her while she did it, but I don't remember. I backed her up and made her move forward, but I dropped some things when she did it and had to get down.

THIS TIME for me! I held on to a buck!!! YAY! And I usually would have been scared, but I was MAD! I was mad at her for being a brat! I had to get down and get my water bottle, then walked her across the rode, up a few feet, got on again, and she did everything I asked as pretty as you please with her ears up!

I am so proud of myself!! I don't know if it means my riding is improved some more or if I am just tired of hitting the ground again! LOL

I love it that you got mad instead of scared. That's what ultimately turned me into a confident rider instead of a victim too! Great job sitting her out.

    Good for you!

I was watching some youtubes of bucking and falls and such - I have to admire your strength and center for hanging on. I go tumbling pretty easily right now but I'm working to change that. (laughing).

**** right you're better than you were. A couple of years is a lot of riding since the last buck and fall - you're getting better and stronger!

Cock a doodle do to you!!

    HAHA!

But it'll come. If I can do it anyone can! I just ride when I can, as long as I can when I'm on there. I had a buddy that just got back into horse riding (hasnt done it since she was six!) and she was cantering in a week!

MyBoyPuck, great! I hope I didnt just get mad bc I was bucked and stayed on. I hope that feeling stays if I happen to go off again! It's hard to be mad when you're in pain lol....

Once you get used to it- there will be a point where everything around you stops and you're thinkin a million different thoughts at once-- even that will stop for a split second- that's when you look at the ground and tell yourself 'nope- not today' and you just hang on!
