Buddy sour at Shows

I took my horse Buddy to his first schooling show a few weeks ago, we took one other horse and he was extremely buddy sour. He would whinny when they were separated and wasn't focused at all. At home I can take him off by himself to school him or go on a trail ride and he's fine, but when we got to the show all they wanted to do was get back to each other. It' probably because neither of the horses had ever been to a show but nonetheless it's quite frustrating. How do you get a horse to stop being buddy sour at a show?
