building a trail course help

How do I build a inexpensive trail course. I don't have a lot of money so I can't buy anything. But the things I do have is a few skinny planks of wood, a tarp, a few logs. Please help me build a course.

If you can get your hands on 4 logs (landscape logs at home depot are $3 a piece) you can practice almost any pole obstacle.

With 4 you can make a box, trot-overs, side pass pole, back L, and lope-overs. You just focus on one obstacle at a time then rearrange the poles to make another. I got 8 cheap poles ($25) so I could combine two obstacles at a time. Like trot poles into a box and 360 pivot in the box, trot out.

You use pretty much anything you've got around the house for obstacles.
Got a rope, tie it to a small log and use it as a drag.
You can put rocks or something noisy in a bag, then have to pick it up from one point then carry to another and drop it off.
Partially bury the tarp in the ground and walk over it.
We set up a Christmas theme obstacle course one year and someone brought in the their blow up Christmas yard snowmen, and we used those plastic candy canes for poles.

So in lies the madness, the pursuit of the impossible in the face of the complete assurance that you will fail, and yet still you chase.

Make a wheel and spokes by using 4 poles and a bucket...
Poles...serpentine activity you can use small cones or stick with a painted end to weave through
"Mailbox"... bucket and bean bags dropped into a receptacle a few feet away
Bridge... poles on the ground and walk up and onto a few planks nailed together side-by-side on a 2x4....
Rings... 2 old plant hangers {free-standing} with some kids "toss game" rings, control and hang the rings.

Different kind of "trail course obstacles" but not so easy either because they are so simple...

Many laugh at these very "simple" things but to do them correctly with precision is harder than many realize.

Have fun and enjoy yourself.
