^ Not quite right, campdrafting is an actual competitive discipline. What you describe is called droving or mustering.

I did answer this in the dressage vs. western thread but I guess t got lost!

As said above. You have a small mob of cattle in a small yard called the camp. You select your beast and cut it out, makig a few turns in front of the gate to show you have control. When ready, you call gate and the gate is opened to let you out on the course. You then Try to get your beast around both pegs then around and through the gate.

Its great fun, vey hard, and a huge adrenalin rush! The good and bad thing is that you can have the best horse and be the best rider, but if you pick the wrong beast, even the professionals get cracked off in the camp! (when you are eliminated I guess, the judge cracks a whip, hence 'cracked off' - you get cracked off in the camp if you lose your beast back to the mob more than once).
