Coming Back from a Riding Hiatus
I own two of my own horses, a Quarter Horse gelding named Jack who is a saint most of the time and a Thoroughbred mare, Sweetie, who can be a little, err, crazy at times. They are both like children to me and I love them dearly.
At one point in my life I took riding VERY seriously. It was all I did. I did not go to prom in high school, I was showing horses. I did not date, it cut into my barn time.
However, I did eventually start dating, and I got pregnant, and I had a little boy named Dominic who is the love of my life. He just turned two. I still teach hunter/jumper lessons, but I am extremely limited with time to ride. I work, I go to school full time. My horses mostly sit and eat, and they have no objections to the current arrangement.
I'm out of shape, and AFRAID to ride in front of the kids I teach. I know all the answers (no stirrup work, etc.). But I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me...
For instance, any single moms here actually find time to ride? And how did you do it?
