I'll saddle up in the paddock with the horse at liberty. If he moves away as I'm lifting the saddle, I'll set it down and start following him making him move (driving). My energy is low to keep his low. When he wants to stop, I'll make him keep walking. He's getting mentally uncomfortable with my doing this. He then follows me back to where he was standing and is usually good for getting saddled. I do allow him a say in the matter and when he decides to stand, it's his choice, nothing I made him do.
