Devon Aire Breeches,poorly made?

Hey,I got some breeches for my birthday gift awhile back. It seems that the seams are weak where the elastic is..has anyone had a problem with this? If I tug on them it sounds like some of the threading snaps but not sure.

I've only ever had one pair of Devon-Aire breeches, however I got them when I was 16, & I'm still riding in them at 24. The elastic has only just started to die a bit, but I figure 8 years is a pretty good lifespan for cheap, heavily-used schooling breeches. I also used to ride in a pair of Devon-Aire tall boots that lasted for about the same amount of time. So based on that, I would not consider it to be a poor-quality brand in general. That's just my own limited personal experience, though.

I'm not talking about the actual elastic..but the stitching that holds the elastic..maybe I got a pair that had flaws..they still work.

Also one more thing...is it normal for them to do this. This is a size 30 and I wear size 30 in pretty much all breeches and sometimes a 32.

I still have room in these but the latch looks to be pulling a little =( Not sure if the latches always do that like a pair of jeans do when you button them. I need to get into shape,I know...i am embarassed to post these but thought I would ask the experts.



Had belly button pierced so there is my pretty scar..it got infected. And it really sucks having one when learning to mount O.O

Oh, mine don't have the hook in front, they're more like schooling tights I guess. So I can't really help you there. It could be that you just got a botched pair with the stitching not as tight. I can't tell exactly what you mean by the latch "pulling", do you mean it's like pulling against itself? There is always the possibility that they run small, like Ariats do (I can wear my normal size in their tights, but not in their breeches - unless I decide breathing isn't important lol).

These ones are pretty thick.They are for winter.
The snap thingy,you see it..where that fake button is? I don't know if it's suppose to pull like that on the latch is what I was wondering. I know jeans will pull against the button slighty when you close them.
I didn't know if these ones looked small on me or what I guess is what I am trying to say.

Personally, I don't like Devon aire products period.. I find them cheaply made. I love ovation products! Everything that I have bought from them last me a long time and are great! I only have Ovation Euro Weave jodhpurs jut because I like the low rise and they fit me perfectly.(:

Devon is ok. You get what you pay for. They are not expensive and for what you pay, they do fine. As you spend more time in the saddle, you look to put more money in your gear and expect more out of it, too.

I thought On Course breeches a very nice fit and pretty sturdy and not too expensive. They are about like Devon Air but better made.
Irideons are really well made but I don't like the feel of the man made materail. I prefer cotton!

If you ever have the money, get a pair of Trainer's Choice Schoeler full seat German leather breechse. OMG are they wonderful! Only around 200$ but they are incredible.

But heck, I ride in cheap Boinks. But being that I am fat (and that's just a fact, not a judgement) I am limitied as to what brand I can get . Most don't come large enough for me.

I just bought a pair of F.I.T.S. Full seat today . I dunno, there were on sale and I was feeling a little blue so I treated myslef. Do I need them? NO. But who knows? Maybe I'll show one day.

Okay,so TL do you think these fit me fine? It annoys me..that little latch ..you see how it looks like it pulls? So do I need to lose some lbs or what? I am kinda thick built.I have a very big rib cage which I am horribly self concious of...odd,huh? Out of all things my ribs bother me the most,haha..oh well can't fix it.

I will let you know I don't have that money.I do like Kerrits though. I think I prefer slip ons more also.

I never heard of Boinks. But I'm new with this whole thing. I want a pair of breeches that don't ball up..and look linty,ya know what I'm talking about?

I have a large ribcage, too. It does not match my small waist very well at all. And I have scoliosis, so the left side sticks out more than the right. I hate it!

Kerrits are my absolute favourites, I'd say they probably make up about 3/4 of my riding wardrobe. The ONLY time I wear zip-up breeches is when I'm at a show. I just don't find them very comfy.

Really, I think that if you find those breeches to be comfortable, & you can bend and flex in them without a problem, then they fit. If not, then they don't fit. It's really all about your own personal comfort.
