Does my horse have what it takes? (pics and videos)

I know I've posted stuff like this before, but I'm going to put it all together (videos and explanations) and see what I get...
I have a 15.3 hand 8 year old QH gelding that I would like to do hunter under saddle and maybe western pleasure with. He was first trained in western pleasure, then got training in hunter under saddle and jumping (hunter style.) I want him to be consistent, have a longer, deeper stride, and a nice headset. I can get him to do these things really well sometimes, but he lacks the consistency. The people I got him from said he could do AQHA with a little more work. I would like to try to do that with him, but I'm stuck as to where to go from here. I'm going to be working with a trainer soon (not a HUS or AQHA trainer, but it's something) but until then I would like some ideas on what to do. First off, do you think he has the potential? He has a really great jog (unfortunately I don't have a video of that) but he needs more impulsion for a HUS trot, and canter too. He's not a lazy horse, in that I squeeze and he does nothing; he's very responsive to my leg and likes to go. But he just doesn't have enough impulsion. If you think he has potential, where should I go from here? Also how do I need to be riding him to get the most out of him? The previous owner rode him really well and he looked super good for her but I just haven't seemed to get him to perform as well. (I've had him a little over a year.) I just need some direction here...
*I know there's lots of controversy out there about AQHA HUS horses being too slow and heads too low...I don't want mine to be like that. I want him to have the nice headset but it not be artifical. And even if I don't show AQHA that's fine, but I want him to have a better hunter frame.

Are you the person riding him in the video? He looked like he had a pretty good head position in that video. Although if you wanted him to get his head lower, you could try loosening your back, almost thinking of "filling it", right now it looks a little arched, which is natural for a lot of riders. You want to make it full though, because it allows the horse to fill his own back, and loosen it, thus lowering his head. It helps me to think of filling my back with air when I exhale.

Yes, I am riding him.
I do think I have a problem with arching my back, but I can't help it.

Do you have a medical issue that prevents from doing that, I am sorry if you do, I know horse riding is really hard on the back sometimes. You should try doing it next time you ride, it might help. Pretty horse, I wish you guys luck.

No but I notice that if I just stand my back is naturally arched quite a bit. People have told me not to arch my back as much when I ride but I'm like I don't think I am! I feel that it's straight; well, it actually is for me but my straight is arched. So I really don't know what to do.
Thanks though!

I really really like him! In the beginning of the video you had him moving slower which I initially thought you should let him move out a little more, but as I watched the video farther you did. He looks very good though! I like his head set and movement.(:

Farrier?
His feet were long in the 2nd photo, they were due and the farrier came not long after I took the picture.
