Equine Careers?

I am currently 15years old which means its time to start thinking about what I am going to do with my future.

I am so scared because I have no idea what I want to do with my life, but I know I have a passion for horses and I want to see what job opportunites are out there.

I have thought about getting a part-time job at a local stable, but living in a rural area it's not that easy.

I am have a strong interest in English, so I was thinking maybe an Equine Journalist or something.

I would love to learn about all the Equine courses I can pursue, thanks in advance.

I am 17 years old and had the same ideas you have in life to do but sadly finding a job in the equine industry isnt easy, especially where I live and so I have settled for now to work at just a part-time work place for money to spoil my new boy :)
So I hope your dreams do come true! Work hard and you will get there!

Its great to have a dream, but bare in mind that it is painfully difficult to find a well paying, steady job in the equine industry. Many people who are there making money out of breeding/training started out with money to set themselves up, I.e. Were able to purchase their own property to start out as so on.
Equine journalism, well it'd be great, but again, the number of jobs available to the number of people wanting to do those jobs makes it extremely competitive, and the pay is generally not overly enticing.

My advice is to look for a 'normal' career path, so you have something to fall back on. Then you can make your money, gain more experience working with horses and go from there.

Good luck :)

I always though the same thing, but decided to go down an normal career path and have the horses as my passion on the side. Horses are my stress reliever and I want to keep it that way, plus in the equine field, the pay isn't good and jobs are rare. I do have a horse handlers certification, but don't see how you can make a living off horses, esp. In this economy.

I've always planned on being an Equine Therapist. (:

Green Broke
I've always considered becoming an equine chiro or farrier but farrier is now out as I messed my back up and I'm not sure how successful the chiro would turn out as.

I am 22 and I have no idea what I'm going to do with my future. It's good to start thinking about what you want to do but don't let it stress you out. It will probably change many times. I know it has for me. Good luck in your search!

I've always been interested in equine transport. I've heard so many stories about how people need their horses shipped long distance but everything goes wrong because of some person being greedy or stupid. I want to be able to provide safe, reliable, and cost effective transport. My goal would be to give horse owners financial and emotional piece of mind. But TBH, I also want a REALLY nice rig! I love big trucks and even bigger trailers.
That's an altogether dream/goal that I have. If it wasn't for gas, id

Exactly :)
When I was at school I was dead set on being a large animal vet. I didn't get the score needed to get into the course straight from school, so I applied for animal science. I took the year off to work 3 different jobs. Changed my mind on my uni course at the start of the year and applied for agricultural science. Started my introductory coaches certificate, changed my mind again on uni and applied for environmental management.
Started uni, did one semester, didn't like it, started coaching and training horses while also studying. Finished the year of uni, decided to defer. Kept riding and training, started a course at TAFE for policing, did a year of that, hated it. Now I'm working 6 days a week at the university, and contemplating going back to study part time while working full time here.

I'm sure I'll change my mind again!!
