Just thought it might be interesting to hear what everyone's favorite horse colors are. Has it always been your favorite? Have you owned this color?
To me it's kind of hard to answer, because I like most colors, I just have favorite shades. For example bay, I like a bright red bay w/ black stockings up to the knees and a very black mane and tail. Sorrel/Chestnut I like bright red or more liver chestnut either w/ a flaxen mane and tail. I like alot of gray shades, but because they change so much I'd never consider gray my favorite color.
So my very first favorite color (and will always be one of my favorites) was palomino. Golden palomino (don't really care for the chocolates). At some of the rodeos we went to there was a pair of palomino pick up horse, golden palominos w/ lots of chrome, and either of those would have been my dream horse at the time. I did get my own palomino, my first QH, she was actually a very pale yellow, but at the time it really didn't matter she was the prettiest thing on four legs! I have since had two more palominos (we still have one), both pretty golden color! One overo, so perfect chrome.
Right now if I had a gun to my head and had to choose, silver grulla! And it's funny because I didn't really care much for grulla for the longest time, I guess I never really saw one w/ the right color! I desided I really liked duns, buckskin dun particularly, but a couple years ago I was at a rodeo and saw the most gorgeous grullo I'd ever seen! To be fair it had more to do w/ the horse, he was just awsome, but the color was definately icing on the cake, and I was in love w/ the color! And now I do have one of my own!
And I also consider any kind of chrome a bonus! Overos are a favorite, but I'm particular there to, I like either alot of white or minimal (but still enough to be an overo, or stockings and a blaze are nice to). I don't like for the white to go around the eyes, or at the vary least I need black eye liner.
Ok, so lets hear! What are your favorite colors!
Now before anyone bites my head off, color is always the last consideration. As they say a good horse is never a bad color. But a good color on a great horse is always a wonderful bonus, nothing wrong w/ having favorites! And I didn't specifically go looking for the colors I have, or have had, I just got lucky!
