I'm reading this month's issue of Practical Horseman. There's an article by Kim Miller about redirecting a hot horse's excess energy. At one point she says about when horses are feeling up, “Thoroughbreds are quite straightforward, often providing such obvious signs as darting eyes, a prancing step, and a willingness under saddle to go forward at or sometimes before you cue”.
I don't know if I'm just overtired, but I found that last part so funny. I guess it's the choice of the word willingness. It's a good article and I'm sure will come in handy once it's 20 degrees out again.
