Get Back Into Riding

Hi everyone! I broke my ankle and got my cast off about a month ago; I've been going to physical therapy three times a week since. I want to begin to get back into riding, and don't want to baby, nor re-injure my ankle. Does anyone have any advice and/or exercises? Thank you.

The only thing I can tell you is do not push it! As soon as it starts to hurt/ache, it's time to stop. That way it'll heal faster.

Yep, listen to your body. You might also consider doing more riding without stirrups at first. It will do great things for your seat, and there won't be as much strain on your ankle.

Take it very slowly, sometimes just sitting on the horse with your feet in the stirrups for five minutes or even walking around the ring only for 5-10 minutes
Then maybe the next week do 15 minutes and then maybe start trotting
But just take it easy

Thanks everyone. I will definitely be very careful and will try hard not to push it. I'm good with dealing with paint, which in this case isn't the best thing. If anyone else has more advice feel free to post it. Thanks!
