Getting Back Into Riding

Hi! I have been riding for about 2 years but I am in the midst of taking a break, it has been about 2 months. I really want to go back into riding, but I'm scared to. I originally took a break due to me being scared and that it wasn't a fun thing to do anymore since I would be nervous the whole time . Should I get back into riding? Thanks!!!

1. Make sure you have a dead broke horse or one you could trust =)
2. Its okay to act like a diva-(kinda) I call it the Miss Piggy effect- When your on your horse act like your super confident- Eventually you'll start to beleive it.
3. Remember horses are fun- and are tools to better yourself. Horses teach us so many things and those messages are worth so much more than a minute of panic/timidness
4. Don't push youself- If you only want to walk for a month do so- But act like walking is the biggest acheivement ever-once again Miss Piggy Effect
Good Luck!

When I was young. I wanted to ride bad.. real bad and every chance I got I rode. The first time I was thrown, it scared me to death. I had the urge but was scared. I finally told myself what scares me more, Riding and getting Hurt or Never Riding Again. Never Riding Again scared me more, the urge overcame my fears.

I looked at it from a functional standpoint. I rode bicycles, motorcycles I have had bad wrecks on both and it didnt stop me from riding them. Horse Riding is no different to me. I look at it as a form of transportation, but you can't bond with a bicycle or a motorcycle.

Take it slow. Don't set yourself up for failure.. Ride Confidence Builder Horses and stay in controlled environments until you are confident enough to venture out. Baby Steps and you will be fine.
