Gymkhana questions.

Hi I was wondering how old a horse should be before he ca do Gymkhana? My horse will be three next year, and I'd really like to organize a small gymkhana with my friends.

He'll need to be well broke and patterned. When do you plan on starting him? Remember that it takes about a year to get a horse really patterned on barrels....

Well right now, he's just getting used to the saddle and bridle. I would like to start riding him in about a month or so. Just walking and maybe short spurts of trotting. My question is will he be strong enough? We wont be doing only barrel racing. We want to do some other games like an egg and spoon race.

Once he's well-broke, start in walk/trot gymkhana classes. They are a good way to practice the patterns and figure out how your horse reacts to the environment. Don't rush!
