Hi, thanks for all your advice and feedback. Much appreciated.

I have spoken to the manager at the riding school about the hazards around the arena - trees to our back, blindspots, shrubs with a lot of wildlife lurking inside. And she promised to check on these. Having two different horses bolt at the same spot is just freaky!

I haven't been feeling like myself the last two days. Apart from a stiff neck, I also seem to forget things very quickly; like things I was telling myself to do TWO SECONDS ago, and I have been acting funny as well. I went to see a neurologist today. He did some really basic tests with me, and immediately said, "Let's do a scan". That was quite worrying. Fortunately, the MRI tests show that my brain is normal. So the doc said I just have mild concussion, which will clear within a few days, and I will be back to normal. However, my balance is affected and I should not ride for a few days. Booooo

Re defence position, I haven't been taught that yet..though I have told to always keep my body leaning back a bit.. I was posting a trot when the horse got spooked. Am really curious. Can you tell me more about it pls?
