Sooo, I had my lesson last night. Somehow we got on the topic of falling off horses and I told my trainer, I've never fallen before. I've come close, but cling for dear life! Well, I'm working on my mare's canter and transitions in and out of the canter because she likes to bolt out beneath me going into the canter and goes into the worst trot ever coming out.
Well, I also have my wonderful saddle that I absolutely love, but have a neoprene cinch on it...not anymore. The neoprene cinch with the dropped rigging would work it's way loose everytime. We're transitioning out of the canter and I feel the saddle start to slip. I'm scrambling trying to stay on and there was no hope for that. Saddle slid and I got dumped. I must admit it was not as bad as I thought it would be and thank God my horse didn't spook or move after the saddle slid all the way around and dumped me on the ground.
It may not be considered by some a "true fall," but for me it's my first time landing in the dirt. Oh, and for those wondering, I am switching to a mohair roper cinch.
