Horses can sense people's energy

Just want to share this with fellow podders

Of late, I have been wondering why all the horses I am riding recently have begun bullying me. Eversince I had a very bad fall and had a very stubborn horse,. my confidence has been at a low. And it seemed that every horse I rode since, had talked among themselves and knew I could be bullied. (But of course, this can't be true :p)

Hmm.. I think maybe it's cos horses have an intuitive ability to pick up my energy and react to it. They knew I had very little confidence and was not going to be firm and assertive. (Having grown up with cats, I pretty much have gotten used to not bossing a different species around! But that doesn't work with horses!) I was all worried about falling and was already thinking about not being able to control the horse even before I got onto him. I guess this sets off a chain of bullying in every horse I rode during this period.

Anyway, just wish to share this with some of you.

The horse that nudged me into leadership The Snitch

I shall try to have a more positive and assertive mindframe. Am not going to let an animal who could bring danger to me and him, run my life!

Its very difficult for many people to get over bad falls. Especially the older we get. Getting confidence back is extremely difficult. But taking your time, slowing everything you've ever done down and even going back to the basics is a great way to rebuild your confidence. Taking deep breaths and just going slow will help your mind get refocused.

A lot of people don't realize that crap happens and if you truly have a passion to continue riding you will back up and start over. No reason to rush and scare yourself when your not ready.
