I agree with the others. You need to talk with the BO. They may not even be aware of all that you do. Do go in sounding like you are angling for freebies, just lay out that you are doing a lot of work, which you enjoy doing, and you would keep on doing for the exchange of lessons.

It sounds like you are like me, in that you are a very shy girl. Maybe pick out another girl in the barn and try to build up a friendship with her. You already have a basis....your love of horses! Having a human friend at the barn can help you build up your spirit, too.

Good luck, Kayla. Keep us posted.

ps: My 14 year old son says if you want a friend in the US, e-mail me here & I'll pass on his e-mail to you. He's a horsey kid, too!

That really sucks.

I was under the impression Adelaide had a fair few horsey places up in the Hills and all around. I am sure you can find somewhere else. Sure this place is cheaper, but many places are open to labour exchange where you work a few hours and get a lesson. Just go there and talk to them about it. I don't know how old you are but it might play a bit of a part.

Just go into a riding school and ask to speak to the manager and tell them you really like horses but you can't really afford the regular lessons there, and ask if they will let you join in on a lesson or give you a lesson if you work cleaning stables or something for a certain period of time each week. If you are not overly experienced then they might not let you do unsupervised horse handling, but pretty much everywhere always needs stables cleaned.

Be honest, don't go to a stable wanting lessons but not being able to afford them, tell them your situation. People are generally pretty reasonable when it comes to helpers.

This place doesn't sound that nice at all, if the people aren't nice and you are working heaps there for nothing. Do you work there all day or just in the afternoons? I think you should leave.

Don't be sad. If you're sad you can pm me or something. I hate it when people are sad.
