I Miss Him!

So currently, my horse is in another state. As I was on holidays with him, when I had to leave as the city I live in was flooding (luckily my area was not affected). Anyway, I left leaving him there as several places were already flooded and we were unsure if we would be able to get our float through in places and also if we get caught somewhere we would not have anywhere to keep him.

He has been away for a total of 5 days already and I'm missing him like crazy!! It could be up to three weeks until he gets back and he's got problems with his feet currently and they can't be treated fully while he is there - these problems aren't becoming worse. Or causing him pain, but we can do a bit to help with it. I just wish he was here so I could know how his feet are going and be able to see them.

Even though I am calling the farm every night and being told he is doing well and what we are doing for his feet is helping I just wish he was here!!

I shall try to explain it best I can. To begin with, he has soft feet and this is something we cannot change so we keep his front feet continuously shod and his back hooves do not need it. This was a choice made by a very good farrier. The rainy weather has caused his feet to become even softer & one of his hooves was struggling to hold a shoe - which resulted in it coming off. So as soon as possible we are looking to get his other shoe taken off to give his hooves a rest from all the shoeing. He is on very soft ground, which we have been told is fine for him to go on with no shoes on as he will not be being ridden or worked.

This is also another reason we have chosen not to bring him home, as at the moment he would be currently standing in water. Where as on our property there is currently no rain.

I feel your pain!! I haven't been able to see my horse, she's three hours away (I'm at college) and I'm planning a wedding. So no horse time for me :( BUT she is coming down to where I am to be trained soon, but I have 3 weeks left and it is dragging on!! Hang in there :)
