I need fun excersises!

I am leasing a new horse (sarge, I looovve him:) he is an 8 y/o off track thoroughbred... i jump him in lessons but the owner doesnt want me jumping on my own for a month (so i can get used to him). I am finding that i get bored since its winter so i cant go on trails. Anyone have any fun excersises i can run through with sarge???? I thinke even he is bored!

im kinda in the same rut.
so i have been doing a lot of ground pole work.

one that looks simple but can be really irritating is to take four pole and put them in a 20 meter circle. im gonna try to include a picture because im not sure me explaining it will make sense. but put all four kinda on one half of the circle. just like as if you were going to set up four canter poles in a row, but just curve them so they are on a circle.

like the picture on the left. it can be hard, if you don't make the turn just right you won't get through it correctly.

Ground pole work!
You can set out 6 and do serpentines in and out of them then go back over the lot, space them out and do circles on alternate reins after each pole, courses of poles, there's lots of things! Hope you have fun jumping
I got these from a book :)

To ride or not to ride? ... What a stupid question!!

Try ground pole work, soccer (if you have a ball), or trick training. (:

I'm a cowgirl. I break horses, I wear jeans and boots and I play in the mud. (:

I'd recommend making patterns for him. Instead of having him just go in circles around the arena, make things interesting. Make him do different sized circles at different speeds. Make him stop quick and start quick. Make him pivot, then go straight into his trot or canter. Make him back up in one direction, then the other. The possibilities when you create a pattern are endless! You can also put obstacles int he pattern :)
