Injuries and safety equipment in equestrian sports

Injuries in equestrian sports analysis of the capability of safety vests

A project of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich

Did you sustain a riding accident or injuries caused in association with horses? Tell us!
In collaboration with the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (bfu) as well as the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials, Science and Technology (EMPA), we analyze injuries sustained in equestrian sports. The aim of the study is to reconstruct accidents in order to learn more about injury patterns and the associated protective potential of safety vests. Therefore we created a questionnaire to gather information about individual accidents, the injuries sustained therefore and the role of safety equipment. The information will also be used to estimate the mechanical loading involved such that suggestion on how to improve safety products can be developed.

We are looking for people who sustained a riding accident. All information is treated anonymously and is solely evaluated for research.

If interested in participating, please fill the questionnaire. Many thanks for your help!

Bye Nicole
