Jumper Horse + Barrel Racing=Confused Horse

Soooo my barn had a 'barn show' today. A little practice show with a couple eq classes for the kids gearing up to show the rateds/schooling shows in our area (only C-rated locally, so not a huge leap from schooling) but mostly just a lot of games. Now, me and a bunch of the other instructors have been being bothered by our kids the past few weeks to enter some of the games, because they've never seen us ride really. I thought it'd be fun so the lot of us competed against each other in silly stuff like Musical Bags (I won, just saying ;]) Ride a Buck, relay etc.

The last class I decided to do was the barrels. I haven't done barrels in...probably about five or six years, and even then I had only done them at a few Gymkhana shows, where I used to trot them if I got too nervous lol. But I thought it'd be a fun thing to do with my boy Scribbles. (Pictures here: Guess the Mutt ) Scribbles and I compete in Jumpers together, I figured he's probably the fastest of my bunch, and he likes new things. So I'm all saddled up, waiting at the gait to do my run, Scribbles has some beautiful tight turns in him, bends like a pro. So I got to the first barrel and like the good boy he is he bends and it looks like I took him a little tight and we were going to hit the barrel.

I think Scribble's thought process was something like this:
"Gee ma, these are some funny looking jumps but if you say so." and he proceeded to jump over the barrel. I couldn't even finish the run I was laughing so hard. Now I can proudly say 'He'll jump anything you point him at' Lol love my big boy <33

Cute. :) I had an Arab mare who would do the exact opposite. I'd take her over a jump, and she'd circle the standards and run for "home." Haha.
