    Jumping problems...

    Hi!!!!

I have a Friesian x Welsh pony gelding. He is 14.3hh.

I love jumping and have jumped 80cm.(that is my highest)

Now I've started on cross country jumping. Merlin, my pony wel he tends to jump quite big and quite wide...
I do ride in 2 point position but when he lands, I often get whiplash.

    What can I do?
    Any suggestions?
    Thxxxxxx

Do you have a coach or anyone that is experienced that can help you from the ground? Sorry but it's a bit hard to help if we can't see the problem. :)

My instructor says that I need to sit back more... but when you jump it happens so quickly! He jumps lik 50cm past the jump, which is way to wide for an upright I think.... im just tired of falling of n getting whiplash each time we do cross coutry.....

    Thanks anyway though!

Are you getting left behind in the air?? Or jumped out of the tack? Could be that your position needs to be stronger to be able to stay with him in the air. Could be that you're getting too stiff and not able to stay with him. Could be that you're throwing your body forward to try and stay with him but actually getting thrown back. Could be your horse is just an amazing jumper that jumps hard and cracks his back, which is hard to stay with him but super for jumping. Could be lots of things but we can't tell without a picture/video.
