Post Just got back from my first lesson!

Just got back from my first lesson with my new trainer, it's been a year and WOW it shows. My muscles have forgotten everything they know, core strength is lacking and I seem to have a problem with keeping my lower legs still, I have limited flexibility in my ankles and find my foot slipping in the stirrup which has never been a problem. I rode a lovely mare called Summer she had a jolty canter, little moody but nothing too bad. Any pointers for keeping my lower legs still and heels down?

Are you riding huntseat? Western? You did not give any details.

Really, strength just has to be built. Ride more and you'll find it easier.
One image I used is to think of my weight going down PAST my stirrup, kind of like my stirrup isn't there.

How wonderful!

Staying in 2-point during warmup (w/t for me) helped to strengthen my legs soo much.

But tinyliny is correct in saying that only continued riding will improve it :P
