After the disaster of my husband buying me a horse that was WAY too green for me last summer, I have decided lessons (multiple disciplines possibly) would be my next step. Though I did sell my horse to someone way more qualified to handle him, I still need a lot of work before I will feel confident on a horse again. So I was hoping someone nearby might be able to recommend a barn in my area (Stillwater, OK). I have heard good things about Oak Ridge Farms, but if I am gonna invest a good amount of money in lessons I really want to make sure I'm getting good instruction. Any help would be great! Thanks!
What crappy timing. I've got a 17 year old gelding that is a great confidence booster....just plodded along. I would totally let you spend some time on him just feeling secure if that's what you're looking for. BUT... I'm moving to Norman on Saturday. You know, actually, I'll be home almost all day tomorrow if you want to come get some furry love in. He loves newbies! Posted via Mobile Device
HalfAHaffie, dang! too bad I work or I might just take you up on the offer! lol I'm not a total newbie, but my confidence if def shaken and something like that would most def help. Hope the move goes smoothly! Palomine, those are great suggestions! That is what I love about this place, different perspectives and great advice are aplenty! I was wondering myself if that particular barn might be a little serious/competitive for what I'm needing right now. I'm in no hurry, I will keep investigating until I find the right place!
Go into Dry Clean City on 6th, a block east of Western. Ask for the owner, Johnny Duffy. He knows tons of horse people out here. He might be able to hook you up or know someone who does for low rates. Tell him Leslie Maguffin sent you. Posted via Mobile Device
Are you still looking for lessons in Stillwater? If so, I'd love to help. We have fantastic horses to learn on and build confidence. Please feel free to call me at 405-714-1701
